Shelly Hindle-Sinclair presents 12 hours of LIVE in-person online training in Running DBT Groups for Eating Disorders (October 2026) TITLE: MED-DBT: Running DBT Groups for Eating Disorders: Models, Application and Implementation TRAINING SUMMARY: This training is designed for clinicians interested in delivering DBT-informed group interventions for eating disorder presentations. It provides an overview of two evidence-based group models: the Safer and Chen (2010) DBT model for binge eating and bulimia, and a 14-week DBT skills group drawn from the Linehan manual that can complement standard eating disorder treatment. The focus is on practical application, group structure and clinical considerations when working with eating disorder populations, alongside guidance on implementation and process across different service settings. LEARNING OUTCOMES: • Understand the evidence base and structure of DBT group models used with eating disorder presentations. • Compare key features of the Safer and Chen model and a standard DBT skills group for eating disorder treatment. • Identify practical considerations for setting up, running and maintaining DBT-informed groups for eating disorder clients, including implementation and process issues. ABOUT THE PRESENTER: Shelly Hindle is a Clinical Psychologist based in New Zealand and the DBT lead across two public Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. She has extensive experience adapting DBT for eating disorder treatment across inpatient, day programme and outpatient settings, and delivers DBT training, supervision and consultation internationally, with a particular focus on practical, DBT-informed approaches for clinicians.
