Service Description

Shelly Hindle-Sinclair presents 12 hours of LIVE in-person online training in DBT Skills in Individual Therapy (October 2026) TITLE: MED-DBT: Applying DBT with Eating Disorder Clients TRAINING SUMMARY: This training is designed for clinicians who are already trained in DBT and are beginning to work with eating disorder presentations. Rather than providing a general DBT refresher, the focus is on how to apply an existing DBT framework safely and effectively with eating disorder clients. The training introduces the Multi-diagnostic Eating Disorder Treatment Using Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (MED-DBT) model, outlines key adaptations for eating disorders, and highlights important clinical considerations when working with this population. LEARNING OUTCOMES: • Understand the core principles of the MED-DBT model and how it adapts standard DBT for eating disorder presentations. • Identify key clinical considerations when applying DBT with eating disorder clients, including risk, medical complexity and treatment boundaries. • Strengthen confidence in using an existing DBT framework safely and effectively with clients experiencing eating disorders. ABOUT THE PRESENTER: Shelly Hindle is a Clinical Psychologist based in New Zealand and the DBT lead across two public Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. She has extensive experience adapting DBT for eating disorder treatment across inpatient, day programme and outpatient settings, and delivers DBT training, supervision and consultation internationally, with a particular focus on practical, DBT-informed approaches for clinicians.
