Dr Anthea Fursland presents 12 hours of LIVE in-person online training in Enhanced CBT for Eating Disorders (November) TIME: 10am to 5pm, with multiple breaks (all times are in AEDT) TITLE: Enhanced CBT for Eating Disorders TRAINING SUMMARY: Enhanced Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT-E) was developed in the UK by Christopher Fairburn from his transdiagnostic theory, which states that all eating disorders share similar core psychopathology. Fairburn enhanced his original treatment, making it applicable to all eating disorders and adolescents as well as adults. This collaborative workshop will include information on: • An overview of the issues relevant to treating people with EDs • Theoretical background and research base of CBT-E • A comprehensive introduction to CBT-E • An understanding of how the transdiagnostic approach of CBT-E can be used with the full range of eating disorders seen in clinical practice • Demonstrations of behavioural & cognitive interventions in CBT-E • Opportunities to practice skills The training will involve didactic, interactive and experiential practise opportunities. Prior knowledge of understanding EDs and basic CBT principles is assumed. LEARNING OUTCOMES: • Describe the structure and stages of CBT-E • Cite research outcomes of CBT-E • Practice key interventions in CBT-E ***NEDC has assessed this training as meeting the requirements outlined in the NEDC National Framework for Eating Disorder Training for an evidence-based treatment model training.*** ABOUT THE PRESENTER: Anthea has worked for 40 years in eating disorders, in the UK, the USA and Australia. She is the former Director of the Centre for Clinical Interventions (CCI) and the WA EDs Outreach & Consultation Service (WAEDOCS). She now works in private practice, offering psychotherapy, training and consultation. Anthea has trained and supervised clinicians throughout Australia in CBT-E. She has co-authored many peer-reviewed papers and created a web-based self-help resource. Anthea serves on the Steering Committee of the National Eating Disorders Collaboration and on the Australian Government Department of Health Eating Disorders Technical Advisory Group. She is Past-president of the Australia and New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders (ANZAED). In 2011 she was elected a Fellow of the Academy for Eating Disorders (AED); in 2015 she was awarded the ANZAED Lifetime Achievement Award, and in 2019 she received the AED Outstanding Clinician Award.
