Service Description

Shelly Hindle (M.A(ClinPsy); PGDipClinPsy) presents 12 hours of LIVE in-person online training in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) for Eating Disorders (October) | Zoom TITLE: DBT for Eating Disorders: Who, How, Why & When? TRAINING SUMMARY: Dialectical Behaviour Therapy is a multi-modal, team-based approach that has strong evidence for the treatment of problems relating to emotion regulation. It has shown to be efficacious for people with complex, high risk and difficult to treat problems. Initial clinical trials showed efficacy for the treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder and DBT has since been applied to many other clinical presentations. LEARNING OUTCOMES: • Understand how Dialectical Behaviour Therapy is applied for multi-problem, high risk Eating Disorders. • Identify who DBT may be useful for and understand the theoretical rationale for this. • Learn practical strategies drawn from DBT (relating both to individual treatment and skills training group) and how these are applied for Eating Disorders. ABOUT THE PRESENTER: Shelly Hindle is a Clinical Psychologist in New Zealand who is currently working as the DBT lead across two public Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. This role includes development and implementation of various DBT initiatives within these settings including DBT for co-morbid Eating Disorders. Shelly’s previous roles include working in a large specialist eating disorder service where she was the lead developer of a comprehensive DBT programme for adults with co-morbid Anorexia Nervosa, across the residential, day programme and outpatient setting. Shelly was also the lead developer of a programme adaptation of DBT for adolescents with Eating Disorders and Emotion Regulation difficulties. Shelly delivers training in DBT within New Zealand and is a Trainer-in-Training for DBTNZ (tier one affiliate of Behavioural Tech, an international Linehan Institute Training Company). She has presented at international conferences and provided webinars for the Academy for Eating Disorders and the Australia New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders.
