Professor Leah Brennan presents 6 hours of LIVE in-person online training in Guided Self Help for Eating Disorders (June 2026) | Zoom TIME: 9:30am - 4pm with 30 min lunch break (all times are in AEDT) TITLE: Guided Self Help CBT for Eating Disorders TRAINING SUMMARY: Guided Self Help for (GSH) is an underutilised but important treatment option for non-underweight eating disorders, particularly those presenting with binge features. This workshop will cover the following: - How GSH fits into the stepped-care model of eating disorder treatment - Theoretical background and evidence base supporting the use of GSH for eating disorders - Detailed guide on how to implement GSH in clinical practice, with opportunity to practice key concepts - How to manage issues when providing GSH in a real-world clinical setting The course will be interactive and include group discussions, small group discussions and individual activities. LEARNING OUTCOMES: - Understand the theoretical background and evidence-base supporting CBT-GSH - Describe how CBT-GSH fits into the stepped care model of treatment for eating disorders to determine suitability of CBT-GSH for client group - Obtain the knowledge and skills to effectively deliver CBT-GSH in clinical practice ABOUT THE PRESENTER: Professor Leah Brennan is a clinician and academic whose work focuses on eating, weight and body image (e.g., eating disorders, overweight/obesity, body image, weight stigma), and promoting the availability of best-practice psychology treatment (e.g., telehealth psychology, guided self-help). Leah has a particular interest in the application of psychological approaches to understand, prevent and treat eating, weight and body image concerns and their biopsychosocial comorbidities (e.g., polycystic ovary syndrome, depression, stigma) in children, adolescents and adults. She is passionate about the provision of best-practice psychological treatment in the community, and the development, evaluation and dissemination of evidence-based interventions suitable for ‘real-world’ application. She leads the Body Image, Eating and Weight Clinical Research Team (BEWT www.bewtresearch.com.au) and is the Director of the Centre for Eating, Weight and Body Image (CEWBI, www.cewbi.com.au).
