Service Description

Dr Anthea Fursland & Dr Sue Byrne present 6 hours of LIVE in-person online training in the Single-Session Intervention: A personalised delivery of psychoeducation to inform and enhance motivation (March) | Zoom TIME: 10:00am - 5:00pm (AEDT) SUMMARY: With lengthy waiting lists exacerbated by COVID-19, providing support to patients awaiting treatment is crucial. The Single Session Intervention (SSI), developed by the CCI aims to fill this gap. An SSI gives patients and families crucial information regarding EDs, and provides psychoeducation, develops a preliminary formulation, offers strategies and empower patients and families to start making changes. Results indicated a significant reduction in EDE-Q scores. This workshop will explain the rationale and the development of SSI, and describe the content and protocols with demonstrations, practice role plays and discussion. LEARNING OUTCOMES: Participants will be able to: 1) Cite clinical changes between delivery of the SSI and starting treatment 2) Appreciate the importance of stance and a personalized approach when delivering psychoeducation 3) Apply learnings to their assessment and treatment of clients.
