Service Description

Dr Sue Byrne, Kate Fleming and Megan Bray present 6 hours of LIVE in-person online training in Interprofessional Enhanced CBT (CBT-IE) | Zoom (May 2025) TIME: 9:00am - 12:30pm (all times are in AEST) IMPORTANT NOTE: This workshop is suitable for dietitians and psychologists working with people living with an eating disorder. Formal CBT-e training is a prerequisite to attend this workshop. TITLE: Interprofessional Enhanced Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT-IE) for Psychologists and Dietitians TRAINING SUMMARY: Interprofessional Collaborative Practice (IPCP) enhances care delivery by improving communication, role clarity, and shared decision-making, leading to more cohesive treatment. We have developed an interprofessional adaptation of Enhanced Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT-IE) to facilitate collaboration between dietitians and psychologists in outpatient eating disorder care. This interactive workshop will equip participants with practical skills and insights to implement CBT-IE and integrate IPCP principles in their clinical practice. The workshop will cover: - An introduction to CBT-IE, its principles, and application. - A detailed overview of the CBT-IE treatment model, including discussion of a real-world case study. - Current evidence for applying IPCP to outpatient eating disorder treatment. - Strategies for dietitians and psychologists to collaborate most effectively in delivering outpatient eating disorder care. - Interactive activities, including: - Role-playing two core elements of CBT-IE. - Small group brainstorming and problem-solving sessions on practical implementation challenges. ABOUT THE PRESENTERS: Dr Susan Byrne is a Clinical Psychologist and Honorary Fellow at the University of Western Australia, School of Psychological Science. She has a Masters of Psychology (Clinical) and a PhD from UWA and a Doctor of Philosophy from Oxford University. Kate Fleming Kate is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian, she has extensive experience in the eating disorder and mental health arena over 20+ years , Kate’s work is supporting adults and adolescents with complex eating difficulties, malnutrition, disordered eating and body image concerns. Megan Bray is an Accredited Practising Dietitian with a decade of experience in eating disorder treatment across inpatient and outpatient settings. She is completing a PhD at the University of Queensland, researching Interprofessional Collaborative Practice in outpatient eating disorder care.
