CEWBI Cancellation Policy
If you are unable to attend your appointment, we kindly ask that you provide at least 24 business hours notice prior to your appointment to avoid a cancellation fee.
We understand that sometimes you may need to cancel or reschedule the appointment you have previously booked with your clinician.

Cancellations must be made with at least 24 hours during business hours to avoid a cancellation fee.

For example, if you wish to cancel an appointment scheduled for 10am on a Monday, you must do so by 10am on the Friday before your appointment. Notification of cancellation provided after 5pm on any business day will be classified as being received the next business day.

Non-attendance and appointment cancellations received with less than 24 business hours notice will be billed a cancellation fee equal to 100% of the scheduled consult fee.

If you are unable to attend your appointment in person, consider scheduling a Telehealth session as an alternative.
Please note that neither Medicare nor Private Health Funds provide rebates for cancellation fees.

Thank you for your understanding when you are charged for a cancellation or a no-show, regardless of the reason.
Why This Policy is Important:
Centre for Eating, Weight & Body Image values your treatment, as well as that of clients on the waiting list. A missed appointment is a loss to three people:

-
The client who is delaying their therapy progress.
-
Another client who has been on the waiting list to see the practitioner urgently and who has not received enough notice to change their plans to attend.
-
The practitioner who spent the time preparing for the session and can not book another client at short notice..

Importance of Regular Sessions:

As a provider of evidence-based treatment, we are informed by research regarding the attendance of regular sessions. Research has shown that weekly sessions are associated with better outcomes than less frequent sessions (e.g., every 2 weeks, every 3 weeks etc). This is particularly true early in treatment when the progress made early in therapy is a strong predictor of successful outcomes (Fairburn et al, 2004, 2010). By ensuring there is no more than a week gap between appointments, we maximise the chances of achieving and maintaining progress and achieving positive long-term results.
